Plan your routes in advance. Lanzarote's roads are generally well-maintained, but some scenic routes wind through volcanic terrain and may feel unfamiliar. Check road conditions before heading to remote areas.
Fuel up strategically. Fill your tank before driving to quieter zones of the island, as petrol stations can be sparse in more isolated regions. Keep spare water and a basic kit in your car.
Drive defensively in peak hours. Coastal areas and main roads attract traffic during holidays and weekends. Allow extra time for navigation and remain alert at intersections.
